Hi everyone,
I have this problem when I try to install a
ISA type SB16 into a Gateway P66. The card worked fine in my old IBM 486 and when I transfered it to the GW it locks up during the post (before it gets to the point of being able to get to the BIOS)all I get is a blinking cursor and I have to switch it off manually, I take it out and the computer boots up like it always does. The card works fine when I put it back into the old machine so I know it isnt dead.
I tried everything short of ventriloquism /forum/biggrin.gif (pardon the spelling /forum/wink.gif ) for the machine to have sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is this the only ISA slot open in the machine? - Try a different slot if you haven't already - might be a bad motherboard/slot issue in which case Gateway might replace the board for you.

no it isnt the only ISA slot open (it has 4 extra open ones) and I have tried all of the other slots and get the same problem. I put a n ISA slot type modem to see if that would work and it loaded just fine and windows (95B) proceeded to install it. I am up in the air on this one since it still works just fine in other machines... thanks for your reply...anybody else have any other ideas?
