by the time you can actually buy a R520 card, the prices on the 7800s will have dropped. it will be a hard sell for ATI, especially with the official 8x.xx series drivers coming out soon.

%100 agree with you, ATI are slumping very bad as of late, now more so with this warranty issue. to tell a consumer that there warranty is only one year but lasts longer than a two year? I dont get it.

What makes worse for ATi is the fact that (at the top end at least) the X1000 series doesnt really look like "beating" what Nvidia can offer - thats not to say the X1000 isnt competetive with what Nvidia's offering, it is however not amazing enough (as i predicted a while ago - it looks as though its not going to live up to what was initially expected of it) performance wise for enthusiasts to allow the "missing in action" issue to slide.

ATI dropped the ball. Still no cards available and even worse, no real benches on the X1800XT.
They got whipped and whipped bad. I do hope they can recover, if not watch prices go through the roof. :(

I am still not able to find reliable benches on the X1800XT. That will tell the story. Granted Nvidia has the pipes at 24 but if ATI has done something to widen or shorten the pipes. :eek:
I must see benchmarks, I need to see them NOW!!!
You could say I am neutral as I run cards from both companies and I always buy the best I can afford. The anticipation is killing me. I don't have the cash right now but it would give me something to aim for. LOL

I think we had better wait and see top card against top card. Sander has an axe to grind with ATI, I am not too happy with them myself but before I scream an Nvidia victory I would wait and see.

I agree that the delayed release has really been a nightmare but I will wait a few. I haven't bought anybody's card yet. I will buy the winner and that is still not established.

Absolutely not. I would buy the Nvidia card just for the extra pipes. I always (since the dead X800XTPE) buy the best bang for the buck.
I do refuse to kick ATI though. I am disappointed in them ATM but they have had some of the best cards I have ever owned. Some folks ie Sander, just want to try to kick someone while they may be down. I just question his motives, thats all. ;)
