I have open my display of laptop due to dim( poor) display. How can I test that my CCFL (Backlight) is not proper or CCFL inverter is not working data cable.
Can I give to test power from outside to CCFL (Backlight) if yes how and how much? how to test CCFL inverter?

***RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK***
Hmmm, do you really want to be doing this? The inverter PCB and contacts on the ccfl pack a nasty punch if you make accidental contact - enough to burn flesh!
Having said that, it you are 100% confident in what you're doing then you need to use the inverter to apply the correct voltage. Normally 3 signals are required +5V, 0V and a turn on voltage of between 3 and 5V. Without seeing the inverter or knowing the spec then where to contact these signals is impossible though the 0V rail is obvious as is the 5V (leads to one end of an SMD fuse). After that, you could touch remaining pins with a 5V signal until one triggers the circuit, but initially make it brief to prevent damage. Oh, and use a current limited power supply!
How old is the laptop and how bright do you normally run the screen. More than likely the tube could be failing as they do have a 'half life' of x amount of hours after which they naturally dim.

I have a friend that made a Taser stun gun out of the high voltage inverter from a laptop LCD display and a 9 volt battery.
It is much better and way cheaper to replace the display with a new one or a used one from ebay.com.

9 out of 10 times it is the backlight. you would need the schematics of the laptop to know what voltages you are looking for. even if you get some power, it may not be the correct voltage.
