The picture has to be accessed via a URL. This means that you'll need to link the picture to an internet address. That's easy if you just want to post a picture from a website. If you want to post your own pic, you'll need access to a web server, so you can link to it. The easist way to do this is get a free account at geocities or angelfire. To post a pic just use the ubb code extension: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/ubbcode.html
An example would be:
##IMG DELETED##
I linked this directly from AMD's website.
[EDIT: Please be aware that posting images from sites that the poster doesn't own is unethical, not to mention it's illegal to post copyrighted graphics. Thanks for your support on this issue. -socalgal]

Do you have to have your pic on a website? Or can you add one from your own system?

Sorry for the prob there Socalgal. I'll drop a link from my own site next time, it just that I was surfing AMD's website while reading this, so it was handy.

Ummmm.... I think that AMD could care less to have seen that on here. If we cant use their pics, then we shouldn't be able to use their copyrighted/trademarked name either right? This is the only board i've ever been too that would get rid of a pic because it had a brand name on it. Unethical? It's just a pic of a box.
Not trying to start anything with this. Just seems odd.

I don't believe the response was so much intended as a copyright infringement, but as to using AMD's bandwidth to display an image from their server that has nothing to do with promoting or aiding their company, plus I did not seek consent from AMD's webmaster. I should have thought about that, I really don't like people borrowing links and info from my website without consent, so I shouldn't have done it. That what I get for trying to think this early on a Tues morning.
I'm still doing pretty good though, I've been here for along time and posted several hundred posts and this is the first one to ever be questionable.

RobRich is correct, same happened here with another inserted img once. The Webmaster of the img's site traced it and posted his not-too-happy opinion about that. I should have been more clear in my note, and I am advised that it's copyright infringement, also.
