GetDataBack - Data Recovery for FAT V2.31
GetDataBack will help you retrieve your files if the hard drive's partition table, boot record, FAT, or root directory have been damaged by a virus, formatting, fdisk or power failure. GetDataBack can even recover your data when the drive is no longer recognized by Windows. :t

GetDataBack may also recover files from a drive no longer recognized by the PC BIOS.
Nothing is a guarentee, but it does work some times.
I use this program successfully at work all the time for data recovery.

Hi,
Well, you can really use Active@ undelete or DOS Uneraser data recovery tools to restore required files. These are IMHO the most powerful util's in it's class that are really reliable and never failed me before.

Collar, do you participate in Sysopt in any other way but to recommend "Active@" programs?
Please tell me that you are not just here to tout their products.

lol, na, if anyone has been here for any amount of time, we pretty much know what, hahaha
Why has your backup routine not including backing up My Documents.
Please don't tell me you do this manually.

I read your other post I hope your information wasn't to important, remember BACKUP everything that is important not the programs just the data in most cases.
I normally tell everyone to back up there data, the only persom I forgot to tell was myself and of course my HD went south. With nothing backup, Live and learn.
Good Luck

So i kinda have the same problem. I have 2 hard drives. THe problem is with my slave drive. It has no windows files on it whatsoever. I used it to store business files and mp3's. I dont know what caused the problem, but the problem is that when i have both drives connected and i boot up, right before it loads the winxp boot screen it will flash the BSOD and restart and will continue to do that. The master drive works fine by itself. Ive even tried to connect the drive while in wondows, and when i do that the system will freeze. disconnect the drive and it will unfreeze. I dont have the 500+ $$$ to shell out and have the data recovered. So what can i do, or am i doomed and have to download all my mp3's all over again and try to rember what files i had on it ?!?!?!?

You should *never* plug or unplug an IDE drive while the PC is running. IDE drives are not hot-pluggable. You could fry something and probably have already.
Have you considered buying a $40 USB drive enclosure and testing the drive that way?

The freezer trick only works for mechanical problems. Yours seems like an electrical issue.

Hi, I suggest you try data recovery card for protection of unwantted formating. It can safeguard your data and instantly recover them. It's a really bad thing to format your wanted files. With this card, you can recovery you data just with a single reboot.
Hello,
I suggest you use EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard to recover files.
Download demo version: link removed
You can use "FormatedRecovery" to scan your drive. After the scan is complete, the lost file will be displayed in Data Recovery Wizard, you can select them and recover them.
NOTICE: never install in on the harddisk you want to recover.

Demo versions don't recover anything.
Please don't tout products on your first post here - or anywhere.
I have found the most powerful and cost effective backup program is GetDataBack (GDB) from runtime.
You will need the one for the particular filesystem on the volume to recover data from.
All upgrades are lifetime free so it is well worth the investment.
It has just gone though a major redevelopment too, e.g., V3.0.3

I use the above program EXCLUSIVELY.
I have been using it for over two years with excellent results. I was able to recover data from a hdd that even the BIOS would not see.

Hey, will you tell me please by which data recovery software you were able to recover your data. I have used Stellar Phoenix FAT & NTFS - []data recovery software[/URL]
Is file and partition recovery utility which recovers all data lost due to accidental formation, virus or file directory deletion. It provides partition recovery from FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, NTFS5 file systems.
Has any one tried this utility. Can try a hand on the demo version
Demo version shows the recovered data.

It is over priced and too divided up for it's options.
You have to buy this for that, and this for the other.

Put the hard drive in a ziplock bag and store it in your freezer for a few hours. Take it out quickly, connect it and try to get your data - or clone the drive.

I found that 15 mins. is sometimes long enough time in the freezer for the trick to work. The lees time the better in my book. I do not want the grease or lubricant freezing in the bearings of the motor.

I don't know, but I have used it several times and it worked. I would say 50-50 on it working or not.

When metal gets hot, it expands.......cold it shrinks. When a drive will not spin up it is most likely that something in the drive has tightened up. The cold helps to shrink some of the metal parts to free them up. But as the drive gets hotter, it tightens back up. The best I can explain it. :t
