Here is a good one, 6.4 g quantum..3.5 series HD in new matsonic 6260s board, 131mg ram. also 9.7g fujitsu..Problem is the 6.4 will not allow a boot from. I installed as a slave, master, secondary master. set jumpers on drive properly..cmos will not acknowledge it..at all..even with user settings, auto and when i press enter, it says not installed.
i can get to C: when i boot off disk if a master and can copy to it..read it...delete off it.....but when i try to fdisk it says no fixed disk present..and format..says something like, not proper format..blah blah.
when using 9.7 to boot and 6.4 as slave the windows device manager does not even show another ide controller installed for it..

any ideas..and oh ya.....i noticed at bootup off of a win98 boot disk choosing cd rom support that it detected the drive as a 2014 ..(2g) that is wrong..so tried to set this way in cmos still the same problems even that way..

Have you tried re-detecting the drive in the BIOS and selecting 'normal, LBA or large'? I had an older Quantum that could only be detected as 'normal'.

If that doesn't work, try going to Quantums website and getting some diagnostics for the drive and run it.
