I'm getting a windows protection error each time i try and reboot after being in the BIOS setup. I have a gigabyte BX2000 and PIII450 with 128MB RAM. It has been happening for a while and i can just reboot and start in normal mode and it is fine. I only recently realised it was happening mostly when i had been in the bios. I have flashed the BIOS with a new version and it is still happening. Is it anything serious that i shold be worrying about? or is it just windows being a pile of......?
cheers

Donkey,
WE must be having a similiar problem,
but I show the error trying to get to 400MHz.
Did you O'clock? I put mine back to 350,restart in normal mode and seemsto be ok except for restart once in a while. I took the cover off and let in run in the A/C air to see what happens???? Who knows ?? good luck

No it is not OC'd haven't delved into that world yet!
As to the problem it actually seems to be happening any time the system update it's settings, ie when windows has to reboot to enable a new program.
Still no further to an answer though, just hope it is not hardware prob!

1. Have you renamed the smartdrv.exe yet?

2. Have you rem out everything in the config.sys and autoexec.bat files?

3. Have you tried to do a bootlog.txt login yet? F8 at the Start windows screen and pick option 2.

nathan,
i haven't done anything to smartdrv.exe, autoexec and config are both loading fine and trhe only thing ni the boot log that is strange is that a few fonts are not loading properly, can't find where they are loading from to turn the off. But these fonts seem to not load whether the system boot properly or not so they are no the answer to the question.
cheers
