Need a techy out there... is it possible to add a pci eide card, like the abit hotrod66 and use more than 4 ide devices? Will an operating system, 98, 98SE, 2000, any others MS... handle more than 4? Can't find any answers from MS. Could someone help

Yes will work but you need to make sure that the card you get will fit in with regards to IRQ issues. The cards I have seen have limited IRQ possibilities. I use a SBLive Value which uses two IRQs that these cards need and thus had a conflict. Good luck.

someone on another forum just told me that as long as I have enough irq's, I shouldn 't have a problem... any ideas on that

Each hd takes up an IRQ and so does the controller card. I don't know if an internal zip takes one or not. You can diable anything that you aren't using like any extra com ports or you parallel port to make room. Also try getting usb devices like a USB mouse and hook up you porinter via USB (and free up the EPP/ECP IRQ). Hope this helps.
