Have you tried clicking on the volume indicator? You can raise and lower the volume by dragging the level up and down with the little hand.

You could always just adjust the volume on the speakers themselves if nothing else works.

I may be completely off here, but... I remember with another Sound Blaster I had that there were 2 speaker outlet plugs, along with the other outlet plugs. One outlet is for passive speakers with no amplifier of their own and the other is for speakers with their own amplifier. i.e. Line out is for non amp speakers and speaker out is for amplified speakers. I think. You should make sure your speakers are on the correct plug. If yours have no power/controls on them, plug them into the line out. If they are powered, then plug them into the speaker out. I noticed that using the speaker out with powered speakers, volume control is almost nil in any cd program (as the speakers have their own volume control). Older SBs had a jumper on the board that needed to be changed if you had powered or nonpowered speakers. Also, if you can turn your speakers on and off, if you leave them off and plug them into the line out, you should get the same effect as if they were nonpowered speakers(i.e. program based volume control) This used to be a common error of mine before I finally realized what all those plugs in the back did.

Hey, that reminds me. Does anyone remember the Gameblaster? Heh, I believe that was Creative's first card, or darn near so. I had that 8 bit puppy plugged into my old Tandy 1000EX and then my 286/12... And before that, there were NO sound cards! And I was darn proud to have a 3 voice speaker on my Tandy while the IBMs only had, what, a 1 voice speaker? All those old games actually had separate options if you had the better Tandy speakers. Haw!
