WD 2.5 GB and 0207 error

I have a wd 2.5 gb hd and a maxtor 4.3gb as a slave to it. i recently downloaded data lifeguard from the wd site and tried to run diagnostics on the wd drive...it fails immediately and returns an error msg of 0207. when checking with wd they say its a blanket code meaning "return drive"..has anyone ever seen this before. other than running a little slow it seems ok and it is my boot drive with win98.
