Did you order this case "new"? Are you sure you have power supply? I can't imagine a power supply without a connection. Do you have other hardware connections? Like for hard drives and cdrom, and floppy.

yeah it was supposed to be a new case...got it from a supposedly reputable online company...the power supply has all the peripheral power connectors for the drives and all..just NO at/atx conenctor for the mainboard!?
How about a description of all wires connectors from the power supply. Also, what kind of power switch is on the front of the case? Does it "click in" to the "on" position and then "click out" back to the off position, or is there no holding action?
What motherboard brand and model do you have? What case brand and model do you have?

ok..its an ATC case///AT with 230w power supply...its a generic cheapo board from tiger direct m748lmrt w sound and video on board...i found 2 leads from power supply that i can fit onto the at connector..both molded with 6 female plugs one labeled p8 one labeled p 9....shouldnt it be one long connector?...other leads are 4 opening power plugs for drives.. so i have a 50-50 chance of guessing the right order they go on?
there is NO info in case...only hardware.screws etc.

If it was an ATX power supply, then you would have just one long power connector.... However, the AT power supplies have 2 connectors... If I think correctly (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), then there should be a black wire or two on each of the 2 6-pin power connectors... As far I can remember, you want to connect the power cables to the mb in a way that the sides of the connectors that have the black wires are next to each other... otherwise, you'll blow your mb.
So it's either you have them in right and it works, or you have them in wrong, and you blow your board. (Actually, you could have one in right and one in wrong, both in wrong, or both in right.... the right way is so the black? wires on each connector are next to each other when plugged in)
Hope this helps you!

Your are right JW310 /forum/smile.gif
Yes, on an AT there are 2 plugs labled 8 & 9. They go in with the black wires together and they can only go in one way with the black wires together.
