Working on my dream machine. FIC PA-2013. Have everything installed. Win98 w/all multimedia apps installed. Yamaha sound card with drivers in and no conflicts. Volume screen will launch. Speaker icon is in tray. I have one of the Win sound apps applied. Still no noise. What am I missing here?

Well guys, we're all creatures of habit. Some more than others. It all started because of my egarness to get on with the project of building my dream machine, after all, I had gathered all the best parts, including an Enlight 7237 case (what a jewel ... worth the extra bucks). ... First thing I did when I couldn't get the monitor to light up, was to put in an old ISA video card, which brought up the video, so I could get the drivers loaded, but then when I tried to use the new PCI card again, I left the old ISA card in the PC, as well. After, several hours of work, I finally read the little message in the systems app, that said I can't use multiple video apps. So Okay... got that going, so on to the audio. Loaded everything I thought I needed, but no noise. Went into FIC website and got the VIA patch someone told me to get, and loaded that. Still no musica! ... Then someone asked if I had the speakers plugged in, and I laughed... how silly. Of course I had them plugged in ... the only problem was, they were plugged in to the wrong receptacle... "in" instead of "out". This new card has them lined up opposite to my other system's card. I'd put the plug in the same old hole I always use. Well, that's my story... You guys are all hero's, and I'm embarassed, but hopefully smarter. ... Thanks... sleep well tonight ... I know I will.
