I have a problem, I just downloaded the new version of Windows Messenger which is "MSN Messenger", The bad thing is I thought that by installing the MSN Messenger it will overwrite or update the old Windows Messenger installed by default by Windows XP, what happened was after I installed MSN Messenger the old Windows Messenger is still present and still can be opened. I would like to ask how to remove/uninstall the old Windows Messenger? and I would also like to know if the "old" Windows Messenger that is installed by WinXP by default is the same as the new MSN messenger and why did the new MSN messenger did not update or just overwrite the old Windows Messenger?

I do not think Windows Messenger & MSN Messenger are the sam applications
However, if you really want to uninstall Windows Messenger:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_mess_disable.htm
Now if you want to remove MSN Messenger:

I personally do not want or use either of them

It is a different program and it doesn't hurt to leave it on your machine. Just make sure that it isn't automatically starting with Windows (Tools > Options > General) and delete the shortcut from Desktop.
Windows Messenger Trinsmutes a Single to send annoyying pop ups saying that your system has spyware or stuff like that, You can shut that down useing admistration controls under service, Now for Msn And Windows Version there differently not the same, Oh and the 7.5 version is Unstable and is in beta, I should know since i'm a Offical Beta Tester. I signed up for that postion when 7.0 was out. I recommand useing Msn 7.0 and Getting Msn Plus if your a fan of chatting and useing Tags and such. If you would like to know more just feel free to ask me. :) Msn Is Something I am Postive I know a lot about ^_^

Tsu, you are confusing Windows Messenger (see here http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/) and the Messenger service (see here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/learnmore/stopspam.mspx ).
