Ok, here goes, i just got my Yamaha CRW6416S drive, came with an Adaptec 1309b SCSI card. It says in the manual that the SCSI card should not be below IRQ 9 and not share with another card. My PC is as follows:
ASUS P5A BIOS Rev 1.007
Matrox MGA G200 AGP (AGP Slot)
Diamond Monster 3DII (PCI Slot #1)
Adaptec 1309B SCSI (PCI Slot #2)
SB Live Value (PCI Slot #3)
DLINK DFE-530TX Ethernet Card (PCI Slot #4)
SMC 8432 Ethernet Card (PCI Slot #5)

No matter where i move the PCI cards to, 2 of them share an IRQ in windows? Doesn't matter what i do in the BIOS windows seems to want to share the same irq with 2 cards, even though there is 1 irq free.
Anyways right now the SCSI card is on it's own irq (9) but the 2 ethernet cards are using the same irq (10)
I have successfully burnt some cd's but i am wondering why i can be sharing 1 irq between 2 ethernet cards?

Any help is appreciated
Thanks

Can you disable any unused ports like your serial ports or parallel port? Do you have a USB mouse or keyboard? These are just ways i have freed up some IRQs because of similar conflicts. Good luck! i hope this helps. Dave

Oh- you can also disable your SB 16 emulator. i have done this while I waited to get USB devices but I would only do this as a last resort. i had no ill-effects though.
