Since the FIC didn't work out and I must use the net to get my parts, the other 'puter upgrade/rebuild is on hold. I put it back together and it worked for 2 days.
However, while online it crashed back to windows and now the bios can't find any drives except A.
Its an old Biostar board with a non-flashable bios, (one of the reasons we wanted to upgrade/rebuild.)I looked up the board info via the Bios once, it's a socket 3 with the uud extension. It has an AMD K5-133 in it.
It had 2 maxtor drives, a cd-rom it could no longer find, and win98. I've tried either drive alone set to master, nada. The Bios is set to auto-detect just like before, cables are snug.
I thought we had anti-virus installed and in use, but found it turned off in the bios.
I'd like to blame the board, but the bios seems to be intact.
Since it won't recognize anything but the A drive, can't even re-install at this time.
Any ideas?

All I can tell ya is to make sure the virii-detect in bios is disabled, that causes alot of problems. If you have a software prog. that uses anti-virii it doesnt enable it in bios. ohh and try only having 1 HD hooked up, I had an old HD that wouldnt allow any other HD's hooked up on it for some crazy waked out reason, but worked alone.

I tried this hard drive in my 'puter and it works just fine. Still not recognized in the other bios, neither is the cd-rom. I did try it by itself. Both were working and recognized, now neither is. Virus scan found nothing.
Guess it will have to wait until the other board comes in. /forum/frown.gif
