zoom fax modem

I have a zoom fax modem. v.34i plus 33.6 model 2805.
I'm having troubles getting it to work in win 98. I used it in my old machine with win 95 and it worked without a hitch. in the old one it ran on comm port 4, and i had the jumpers on the modem set properly. The new one i want it on comm port 1. when i go to select a comm port two are listed there under the title comm port 1. I had the jumpers on board set to comm port 1. can anyone help me?

if you really want to use the modem on com port 1 you will have to disable the on board com1 port. that is why when it was setup to use com4 it worked.

thanks...i'm wondering if it would work if i added a comm port? just out of curiosity.

When you bought the modem it was set on com port4 irq3. This modem works best at these settings. I have the same one in another computer and it works great. If you don't have a com port 4 you can always add one in the add new hardware section in your control panel.I hope this will help.
