ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Some Formula One bosses would rather their drivers kept their mouths shut. Not Jordan's Colin Kolles.

Kolles came to the rescue when his Portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro suffered a bad toothache at the Turkish Grand Prix.

The Romanian-born team chief is a qualified dentist, with his own clinic in Germany, and he did the root canal surgery on the driver himself.

"He did a very good job," said a team source.

Monteiro had the surgery after Friday practice and qualified 15th for Sunday's first race at the new Istanbul Park circuit.

Kolles is not Formula One's first dentist. Briton Tony Brooks, winner of six races with Vanwall and Ferrari in the 1950s, was also qualified.
