My monitor can support 85 Hz at 800*600. However when I select the "optimal" setting in advanced display properties the monitor Hz drops to 60. If I set it to 85 then play a windows based game it switches back to 60 Hz. I think my windows install could be corrupt. Please tell me what's going on???

your moniter cant handle 85hz, get a program called multi-res for windows and you can set it between 60-150hz I recommend 72 or 75, this way at least the screen is flicker free (try turning your head real fast and if your mon. is under 70hz then you should be able to see it flicker)

You can also stand back 10 feet from the monitor and 2 feet to the right of it. Sometimes you can see the flicker. I've seen it flicker at 72 MHZ.

Also if you swivle your head, rubb you stomach, while patting your head, and stand back ten feet while chewing penut butter you can accomplish absolutely nothing. |)

You are also more likely to notice flicker at 72MHz under neon lighting than under incandescent lighting.
