I bought a used pentium hx chipset mainboard, and can't get it to boot. It has no manual or jumper settings or anything, and I can't tell who the manufacturer is by looking at the board. The board will post, and even autodetect the hard drive, but it always gives a no keyboard error. The keyboard lights light up all at once..(num lock, scroll lock, caps lock) But you can't hit delete or f1 to resume or anything. It is an AT board, but has a ps2 keyboard connector, thought that was sorta weird. Could this be a prob w/ the cpu I've got plugged in it?? I tried a 133 pentium and it woudln't even post, and w/ a 166+ cyrix it reads as a 66mhx chip. Is this really probably a dead mb due to the keyboard port being out? or is it more like a setting or jumper wrong or something??? Any advice is appreciated
Try a different keyboard. As for the cyrix chip you need to jumper it properly they are not like pentiums or k-6 cpu's.The board may not even support it.
If you use a search engine and type fcc id it should come up with several links to search engines that allow you to input the fcc# on your board to find the manufacturer.

You can look up the manufacturer of the board with the BIOS post # (bottom left hand corner of screen at boot up) and going to www.ping.be/bios (http://www.ping.be/bios)
Then go to the manufacturer's site to download any manuals/drivers/BIOS updates.

thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately, I can't see the number on the screen during bootup, It shows the cyrix cpu as being a 66mhz, so I don't know if the jumpers are set at 66 x 1 or what, but there isn't even a fcc sticker on it anywhere, so looks like I"m sol for now...Maybe I'll just take the jumpers out of the board, cut out the socket seven, and have me a cpu lapping jig out it if...HEHEH pretty pricey one though... /forum/smile.gif
