HI PEOPLES,
well, a question i always wanted to know the answer to is this. You know when you delete something using the uninstal that comes with it?. Well, sometimes you get the message, Windows says this file is no longer being used, blah blah blah. But it also says that other programs may need it. Haha, talk about confusing. Anyways, question is, how do you get rid of the files that are left behind (i always leave the *.dll files and 1 or 2 other types when it says their in c:\windows\system)Is there a util out there that can tell me which i can kick off the puter?. I have over 147MB of just *.dll's alone. :O{. And i dont want to format the drive if i dont need to.Something ALWAYS happens when i do something when i dont need to.
So, any suggestions??.

Laters peeps.

PW.

And an oh yeah... IT's Good to be back here... :O}}}}}

Lot of uninstaller utils that will help with this. The one I use and am familiar with is Clean Sweep. It includes option to leave a monitor running which keeps track of what is accessed and how often. If a dll or whatever has not been used for anything, this will show up when you do "housekeeping",
You can then delete it or back it up for safety's sake. What I usually do is to move these hopefully unneeded files to a folder I created named "Junk". If the absence causes no problems, I'll delete it next time. But if it does, I can quickly restore it to it's original location.
