I do I get Win98 to stop telling me that it has found a modem. I'm happy with my modem(and all the appropriate drivers), but somehow Win98 wants to install another one.

Sorry, but it seemed like I had to say that.
Try removing the modem and any modem wave device from the device manager, then reboot. Let Windows configure the modem and it should then be happy (I hope you are).
