The program Rain is running on my computer and I also have a program called TaskInfo 98 and it keeps reading a cpu usage of around 100% when Rain is on, is this a false reading or is rain using all of my cpu. I noticed the the idle command is very little does Rain just take its place or something please let me know, and if I should keep this program or let it go. I have heard great things about Rain but this is puzzling me.

Read the documentation that came with it. This is just cosmetic. Windows is misinterpreting reading. Nothing to worry about. You get this with all the software coolers whether it be Rain, Waterfall, Cpuidle, etc.. Although you won't be able to tell unless you've got a temp sensor on the CPU itself, Rain DOES work.

Just in case you don't have the documentation anymore and for the benefit of anyone else, this is from the Rain FAQ:
Q: Why is it that System Monitor and other CPU monitors indicate that my CPU is 100% busy when running Rain or Waterfall?
A: That happens because these monitors only detect that a certain percentage of the CPU isn't being used when it's idle. Both Rain and Waterfall replace this idle mode with a suspend mode generated by the HLT instructions. Therefore, these monitors will always show that your CPU is 100% busy. There's no fix for this unless someone releases a patch for these monitors.

Thanks Brian, thats what I wanted to know. By the way I have an Amd k6-2 400 o\c to 450mhz, with a large heatsink fan, with thermal paste, and a large case fan, and a smaller fan blowing on the cpu. I was wondering how much you think it lowers the temp, maybe an average of what anyone has seen for an k6-2. Could this possibly help me get 500 again, I had it run 500 for an hour and since then I cannot get it to run there, but 450 is stable on a special voltage setting in between 2.3 and 2.8, 500 at 2.9

I believe Rain uses the least amount of systems resources than the other CPU cooling programs.
As to making links active in a post, look here http://www.sysopt.com/forum/ubbcode.html , and/or click on the Edit (paper & pencil) by my name and you will see how it looks when you type it in. /forum/smile.gif
