Thsi is more of a "Hmmm, errr, huh?" scenario. I have a PcChips m715 board. The BIOS chip is an American Megatrends. Fine. However, the chips has an AMI 1995 sticker on it.(As well as a 24 hour yellowe burn in sticker) Still not a problem(Although most chips I have ever seen usually say 1995-1998 or some variation of that) Now heres the real curiousity. The BIOS comes up with a date of 7-15-95 15th or something, i forgot that number. Anyway, the BIOS code shows it as being the newest for the board. 7-28-98 (Even says 0728 on th ID line on boot up) Every program I use to check the BIOS shows that 7-15-95 date. SiSoft even says it's old and all that. My questions are...

1. Why would the chip have a 1995 sticker on it? Could it have actually been made in 95?

2. The real question. Since it's a flash BIOS, why does it still have a 1995 date in the code? Should it be something from 1998 since the code IS from 1998?

This isn't a problem at all. But it certainly is weird. I don't recall there being any boards that supported up to a 500 mhz Celeron in 1995(Heh!) so this is just plain confusing(considering, even though it's a bit dated being a PII AT form board, the board is new and was prolly made this year or last year...

The AMI bios screen also is the standard text type, like Awards and all those. I thought they switched to the graphical picture deal(even the manual shows the graphics picture version) Did they switch back to the text version? The bios isn't dated or crippled in any way. It still has all the options that the manual displayed graphic version has... Strange, strange, strange...
