The Mars Climate Orbiter Spacecraft was lost because one Nasa team used imperial units while another used metric units for a key spacecraft operation.

Those guys kill me.
Any volunteers for the space station?

I guess even rocket scientists can goof. It's sad though, as it's a setback for our space exploration programs.

Can I tread water for 10 minutes??!

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but last time I looked the shuttle travelled at around 10000mph. If it's heading for water, I think the safety procedure is to put your head between your legs and kiss your a** goodbye!

(edit)
Um I don't get the Mormon reference /forum/smile.gif
Using Amish would have more meaning for me. Having said that, I believe they are doing great business on traditional non-electric tools - all those survivalists waiting for Y2K are snapping them up.

Moving that fast, doesn't matter if its water or concrete, or what system of measurement you are using: You're gonna go SPLAT! /forum/biggrin.gif
