need help with HD problems

I put a new 13gig HD on my cousin's comp. and it runs fine kinda slow. When it locks up or gets the BSD and you reset the comp. scan disk comes up and says that it is having problems reading the last sector.
The computer is running on a DFI Socket7 mobo, AMD k6-233, 64 sdram, WIN98 and the latest bios upgrade for this mobo. Any help will be appreciated in fixing this crazy problem.

You could download a diagnostic program from the manufacturers website and see if it finds any problems with the drive.

Since the drive is new and under warrantee, you should then contact the manufacturer and see what they can do for you.
