Just go with www.godaddy.com unless you're looking for something special.

Mind if I hijack your topic? :D
My page has been down for a week now, I'm running out of places to host my freeware :(

Does someone know a free host that offers:
- 2MB of web space
- MySQL
- PHP
- no forced ads
- a nice name and little downtime, preferably

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey bassman, haven't you posted about this a little while ago?

How much bandwidth do you need?
There's not many free ones that gives that much space.. or they all require something,
ie. be part of a community or banner supported or a domain name...

This one (http://www.fwsh.com/cgi-bin/cp.exe) requires a minimum of 500 unique hits per month and a domain name - $5.99? (www.1and1.com) though, but meets your other requirements:

I have no clue how dependable they are, they list their top 10 sites so you can check it out and see for yourself BUT the price is right :)

I'm asking for a lot less now

I need 2MB of space, not 2GB

I really need a free host, as it's going to be the homepage of a free application.

I had misread your space need .. somehow

Anyways here's one that seems much better

- Hostrave Free Hosting (http://www.freehosting.hostrave.com)

and a directory to free PHP & MySQL hosting (http://www.oinko.net/freephp/), I'll let you review those :)

I give up; mymarkdown.com looks good, are you considering going for it? Let me know if you do, OK?

Thanks! :)

You give up? meaning you couldn't find one in that list

Yea I went with mymarkdown, beside the initial waiting time to activate my account, about 12 hours, I haven't had any problems with them. I had one issue that was dealt with properly in a few hours. It's a bit slower than my older one but it's not that bad.

You'd still need a domain name if you opt for that host. And if you do, go to their Affiliate section (http://www.mymarkdown.com/partners/affiliates/) the prices are much nicer. Just mention that you've found them in: findmyhosting.com and you'll get the reduced price ;)

My last host was pretty dependable too: http://www.livin4.com/mini_hosting.htm

Good luck :t

Well, once again I got stood up by my hosting "service" :( And once again my application is offline, just when I had updated all the links and it was getting Googled right

I think I'm going to go with one of those mini hosting plans from livin4, namely Mini01, is there anything I should know before buying?

Thanks for the info :)

:/

Well not really, never had problems with them... maybe the only thing is the stats (Analog; Awstats; Webalizer) in cPanel... after a while those files add up and take space. They send a email warning when you go over 80% +

I had one of them disabled but you can delete the files on the server too. So it depends on the space you'll use and visitors you'll have.
