running p2 333@ 478 and after running unreal timedemo for 40 min the pc just restarts

for no apparent reason after running unreal time demo for over 30 min my PC just restarts and at boot I'm informed that windows was not closed properly and scandisk is run. just wondering if there were any suggestions.

Whats happening is your CPU is getting to HOT when running Unreal (very intensive CPU time) then when your chips reachs it's thermal threashold it crashes. and since there was running programs when it crashed when Windows goes to boot backup it gives you the error and runs scandisk. The best way to prevent this from happening more is to increase your cooling or you might have to raise your voltage just a touch more (remember when raising voltage you raise the heat also!)

thx mntsnow this was what I thought but my cpu temp is actually at around 25-28celcius pretty all the time and sometimes 23.5 or 24 cel with rain working. also sometimes I boot up and windoes says there was some stack problem. I think maybe some more voltage will give me stability. at 2.21 volts right now.

From the gaming boards I frequent, Unreal is notorious for *HATING* overclocking. Whether this is because it is so demanding or because of shoddy programming, I don't know.
I couldn't get it to run in anything but safe mode unless I went back to my default of 400MHz.
