Regular CD- Rom drive won't register when I put in my DVD drive.

I have a 40X CD-Rom drive and I just recently purchased a 6X Creative DVD drive and I tried installing both on my system but it won't register the 40X when the DVD drive is in and vice versa. I made sure I changed the jumper settings to master or slave depending on the connection. Any suggestions?

Not only should you triple check your jumper settings, but you should also make sure that the BIOS is enabled for the second drive.

The DVD needs to be on a seperate channel. Try this. Put your CD Rom as the slave to the Hard drive and the DVD as a secondary master. If your Mother Board supports Auto Config in the Bios then your Home free. If not read your manuals.
