Everytime I run the CD-ROM/DVD bechmark using SiSoft Sandra99 Standard Version I get the screen where it says all the stuff. Here is the benchmark:
Test uses cache: Yes
Disc Tested: Data CD
Test file Size: 66 MB
Cache Size: 64 kB
Optimise Pattern: No Read Ahead

Drive Technolgy: 7x CD Speed
Track Speed: 3668RPM (estimated)
Buffered Read: 51 MB/s
Sequential Read: 1038 kb/s
Random Read: 680 k/s
Average Access time:85 ms (estimated)

CD-ROM/DVD Device: BTC 36x CD-Rom
Drive Controller: Primary IDE (Dual fifo)

My System specs are:
ASUS P2B-B Motherboard
Pentium II 400 MhZ
32 MB PC-100 Ram (generic)
Quantum Fireball 5,1 GB UDMA 2 Hardrive
Digital Research BTC 36 CD-Rom Drive

I don't know what is going on here can anybody tell me how to make my CD's run faster?

P.S.: It only ripps songs of Cd's at 2x instead of 32x /forum/frown.gif

I had the same problem w/ acer 40x.Sandra said i only had a 6x.I found out the cdrom had no read ahead, put it to quad speed or higher. Then rebooted and benchmarked the cdrom, the speed went up to 12x.
Hope this helps!

I figured it out Make sure that the DMA box is enabled in the Cd-roms Properties. then reboot and also under control panel\system\performance\file system\CD-rom change it to large and to quad speed or higher. I hope this helps you guys. Mine performs like a 31x now /forum/smile.gif
