Hi!

I'm having a problem with my modem. Recently a house sitter "did something to the thingy" (her exact words). Now whenever I try to log on I get "Error 692" & "hardware port failure".
I have deleted all the ports and reinstalled them. I have taken all the cards out with the exception of modem and vid card.
I'll get it to work only after I delete and reinstall RAS. It will work right after I do that but the next time I restart the machine I get the same error. I am not installing anything else just doing a restart.
any ideas? (aside from strangling the house sitter)

Need the model make etc of modem the operating system winows 3.1 / 95 /95 b /98 /NT etc
Need type of system Pentium? Which kind etc
Right now do not delete any more stuff.
If windows 95/8
If you must fiddle with it use the Pages in Controll panel - like the Modem one to remove the modem,

If you do remove the modem in the control panel - DO NOT REMOVE THE CARD from the mother board - these cards are quite hard to
configure. Removing it from controll panel will simply make windows reinstall it OR you may have to use Hardware Wiz to do it - if windows does not notice it on boot.

The ports will automaticaly reinstall at boot up -
Hope that helps /forum/smile.gif

NT 4.0 w/SP4
P200
192 MEGS O'RAM
U.S.R. 56K win int.
ver. 1.00.005

I have gotten it to come up again just now. After deleting RAS and re-installing again.
The sound card is in, the ata/66 controller card is in. Everything is working fine. But I'll bet alot of beer it wont be on re boot.
