Is it just me or do these buggers attract a lot of stuff that you can only remove using window cleaner or similar.
Why don't they use glossy surfaces on them (like some notebooks) or something, then at least a quick wipe with a tissue would get rid of most of the crud that seems to accumulate.
Its like if I sneeze in another room 1/2 the 'sneeze globules' end up on my LCD pannels and the only way to get rid of them is to use a plastic lens cleaner thats sold to clean glasses.
I've toyed around with the idea of getting a piece of glass cut to size and attaching it to the front of the screen but the beazel of my main 19" is slightly convex so the glass wouldn't be flush all the way around and would probably let dust in.
Are there any other ways I can protect the screen surface a bit short of placing it in another use and using a telescope?

Let me know when you find something besides water that works. I rarely clean mine, but I am careful, never to use anything but a clean cotton t-shirt on it and occasionally use a fine camel hair paintbrush to dust it of. It's three years old now and still not scratched.

I have a wide but fine camel-hair brush that I use for loose dust.
I used to have a lot of luck with isopropyl alcohol till the place I got it from changed suppliers and the new stuff had some sort of scent added and it started to leave a residue.
The lens cleaner is the best bet for me now. Its non smear and designed for plastic and does a good job.
I've found the pads sold for pregnant/lactating women to stuff in their bras work well :) No lint or dust and very absorbant. Don't ask me how I came to try them as screen wipes
