Hey all,
I have a Monster M80 that was working perfectly when I first got it, but I had to remove it to make room for a PCI slot temporarily and then I replaced it only to find that it now has a resource conflict. Windows won't let me reconfigure the settings myself and I've tried reinstalling the card several times without success.
Any ideas?

Is your mboard plug'n'play if so play with
that under the bios setting.
what kind of resource conflict is it
IRQ DMA or memory
Notably most sound cards use irq5 so map that
irq to the pci bus ubder plug'n'play in your bios, if it is a pci sound card if not pci map to ISA
Also try changing the PCI slot as PCI slots
are locked to to certern IRQ's
First unstall the sound card drivers
the best way of doing this is going into safe mode by pressing f8 at the boot screen
remove multiple devices as this also couses
conflicts.

Well, it appears my M80 is sharing IRQ 10 with my Diamond Stealth SII 220 and it won't let me manually change the IRQ setting for either card. It's still a mystery to me because these cards worked fine until I took out the M80 and then plugged it back in.

I have the exact same problem with my current setup.I have a Diamond Stealth 220 and a Ess Solo. When I load the drivers for the Stealth and the Solo at first there is no problem but on reboot the sound on the Solo turns to noise.I pulled the Ess and unfortunately the the two other soundcards I have also like IRQ 10 and none will work with the Stealth.Looks like it's either dump one or the other.I'm switching to ISA Soundblaster for now.

Yep, the reason I bought the M80 in the first place was because the sound in Rainbow Six kept stuttering and after I got it everything was fine. I too am using my cheapo ISA ESS card for now but am contemplating dumping it and my M80 and getting a new MX300. But with my luck the MX300 will have probs with the Diamond Stealth II S220 as well. Perhaps it's the Stealth's fault....

AHA!!! I finally fixed it. I looked into Diamond's FAQ and they told me it was a problem with VIA mobos in that they have a problem assigning PCI devices. Go to your motherboard manufacturer and download something that sounds like "IRQ miniport router" and that should fix things. I did that for my FIC VA503+ and now it works!

Happy gaming.
