As a brit citizen, this is yet another sad day for me.. My father is in Newbury at the moment, and wrote in to let us (my family) know that he was out of harms way. Luckily, as stated, the actual explosions caused little to no human harm. That being said, it's still an attack.. and the minute the UK gets their defenses up, the terrorists will turn to another "Coalition of the willing" partner (or as the Daily Show pointed out, the "coalition of the to-be-bombed" - Costa Rica beware!!)

Anyways, it's moments like this that do bring up the question as to whether or not we're dealing with terrorists the best way possible.. Bombings in Europe, increased bombings in Iraq, renewed fighting in Palestine/Israel.. we all know things are f'ed up in parts of Africa and Asia as well.. I don't have a solution, and we may well be doing the only thing we can, but times like these make me wonder..

This is indeed sad news AGAIN....what is unbelievable is the fact that the first bombing that also took the four bombers was organized and carried out by BRITISH citizens, NOT immigrants. It's beyond my reasoning how bombers can justify bombings and especially SUICIDE bombings from native Brits even if they are Muslims?
I'm afraid that the only, at least temporary solution, is to incarcerate any one who even looks suspicious. To hell with "human rights", self preservation is paramount.

The fact that all these bombs fizzled out just shows these guys are amateurs. That does not make them any less dangerous and it also demonstrates that they were not suicide bombers which is even more troublesome. They are still alive to try it again. Man shot by armed police on Tube
A man has been shot at Stockwell Tube station by armed police officers.

Passenger Mark Whitby told BBC News he had seen an Asian man shot five times by "plain-clothes police officers" with a handgun.

Passengers were evacuated from the Northern Line station in south London. Police have also cordoned off surrounding streets.

Eyewitnesses say armed police have surrounded a mosque in east London that has been evacuated after a bomb scare.

Police are hunting four would-be bombers after Thursday's London blasts.

The bombers fled after detonators went off, causing small blasts, but failed to detonate the bombs themselves.

Services on the Victoria and Northern lines have been suspended following a request by the police, London Underground said.

Why don't we just do what John Travolta's charater in Swordfish suggests.

Lets not sugar coat this blatent act of abuse of police power. That's not going to make up for anything. If I were the man's realitives I would sue too and go gunning for a few knuckleheaded cops.

You got to read the part about how they shot him to appreciate the act. From what I read five cops jumped on him in a pile on and shot him five times while on top of him.

Didn't read the entire post. But would like to add some anyay. I seen in the paper some time ago a story about torrist and the Muslims religion. And if I remember right. The story went something like this.

I don't know enough about what happened in that subway with the Brazilian man other than what I've read in the papers. I think it's way too soon to jump to judgement. Here's why:

First, I wasn't there. Second, here is another way to look at the events. There have been two bombings in a matter of days targeting transit systems (mainly subways). This man is seen jumping a turnstile (one report), he is wearing a long padded trechcoat (very common among suicide bombers...especially obvious when weather doesn't warrant their use). He ingores repeated commands to stop and decides to run. Suicide bombers usually trigger their bombs by devices in their hands. These police were trained to shoot at the head specifically to immediately disable any ability (controlled by a certain part of the brain..can't remember name) to press any kind of button or other trigger. Also, because shooting the chest or back would likely set off a bomb.

Being in law enforcement, my number one priority each day is to go home safe to my family. I will do everything necessary to do that. Second, it is to protect the lives of my fellow agents and those of innocent people.

Only a thourough investigation will determine if the actions of those officers were justified or not. I'll wait until then to pass judgment.

The cops were in plain cloths and admitted they had his residence under surveillance. Considering most cops in plain cloths look like thugs with shifty eyes, maybe the guy just didn't know they were cops. When they told him to stop did they identify themselves?
