Hello,

I recently started using WindowsXP [Professional] as my primary FTP for a little website I have.

However, it always seems that I have to manually open the Web Directory again and again as I upload more and more files.

Each time my copy/paste stops, I recieve a message stating that the "server was reset" or whatever.

So, I figured I'd put up with it. After all, I don't upload much.

However, when using WinXP as a FTP for anothe site I have, I get the same results. However, instead of getting that message, my logon keeps prompting up, i.e. UserID & Password. When I click "logon" from the sign-in box, nothing happens. Instead, the box keeps coming up again and again until I finally "cancel" it.

Any thoughts? If possible, I'd really just like to use WinXP as my FTP app.

Thanks! :)

FTP sites usually have relatively short timeouts, (maybe 90 seconds of inactivity) after which it is necessary to log in again.

Quick question regarding the FTP inactivity logout:

When I am getting logged off, it's usually in the middle of uploading files.

Also, when I get logged off, I receive the WindowsFTP logon prompt. Assuring that my info is correct, hitting "logon" does nothing but bring up the logon box again. Eventually, I just have to hit "cancel." :(

Oh, and just to add, I generally experience this when uploading to two different hosts.

Thanks!

Try out a few different clients. Windows is not one of the better ones - unless, of course, you are working from the command prompt, but that involves a bit of a learning curve.

Thanks Ol'Tunzafun!

I looked over each one's reviews and downloaded FileZilla.

Hopefully everything will go smoother! :D

Thanks again man! :t
