I just got ahold of this game Scapeland and started to play it.. just a while ago.
The game is made by the same people who made American McGees Alice ( those German geniuses ) , and it is just a funny , intersting amzingly cute and wwell made game..meant more than likely for the younger age group.. but i would suggest anybody... young and OLD alike to give it a shot.
Graphics are very good ( actually quite good ) and the game is just plain funny and very amusing.
Why in the world can't all these game makers we all know more closely make interfaces and games that run and operate as smoothly as this?? I do take into account that alot of the games today are graphicly intense and complicated..but I stil believe alot of game makers should just go back a ways..and make things a bit simpler and less complicated. more than likely why our games tend to run not always so smooth or fluid as we would like.

I was gonna pick up Scrapland a whiel ago, purely on the basis that its an American McGee title, i've heard it can be more than a little repetetive - but i'll still probably end up picking it up at some point

Im sure i will report back some more when I play it a bit more...but yes you should give it a go... it is defintiely worth it.
Maybe made by the same makers..but this game is above and beyond its predecessor.... Much more 3D and I smell a bit of genius here.
In the beginning you are told to build a ship ( or obtain one ect.. ) and after that you take a first ride on a cute inner city space vehicle ..and told to get to a destination...and the flying is much like that in the movie made awhile back by Harrison Ford ( god i always forget the name but it was a cult hit ).
Think of Kotor ( or even Star Wars .....remember the Wookie ,R2D2 and CPO? ..a funny spin off on that somewhat ) and put more fantasy and funniness into it and it might remind you of that ..if only a bit.
Its hard for me not ot like something that depicts a nice fantasy stroybook style script..as it is just a differnt puppy than the usual and a nice break in the norm of todays games.

Same here...I am a big fan of American McGee and Alice is my all time favorite game. I played the demo back around Christmas but it was taxing my slower system so I decided not to get it. Now that I'm getting a Althlon 64 I'm reconsidering getting it. :t

must be a slow system, i used to play Alice on my P2 400mhz. 512mb ram, ati radeon 64mb DDR. But i played the game at only 1024x768x32 but i played the first half of the game with my old voodoo2 12mb card paired with an ati pro AIW 8mb at 800x600x16, then like a month into the game i bought the killer fast at its time ati radeon 64mb ddr :P

Blade Runner - and I have to agree the flying sequences are outstanding.

An interesting scenario in the wide open field of games that come out.. some from conglomerates like EA games or others where it seems the main crust of things is the video and graphics.. and how much they can cram alot of trully untested upgrades on us so we have to run out and buy the latest Video card so we can even begin to play it....
Or... more and more good and even great quality games from makers such as these Germans and I guess you could say the Rushkies that for whatever reasons.. ( more than likely free of the handcuff restraints that the current trend and industry put on thier decisions ), are now free to experiement and kick start thier creativivty.
On a positive note.. its great that we live in a world where if you don' t like the offerings or politics and whatnot of Software ( games and other media ) that we get from this ongoing tech. revolution.. then somewhere else someone is bypassing all of this and just shooting the moon with some nice creative juices.

Naw Alice plays fine (everything cranked up to high)...it's Scrapland that plays sluggish. :p

bob.. Maybe after i play the game a bit more..i might fine it to be less than smooth ,,but I only have a medium high end system by todays standards and the game runs well..and looks terrific. My specs are P4 2.8 800FSB; 1 GIG high grade Platinum Corsair memeory at low latency 2-3-2-6 timings..; and a FX5900 video card.
It will be sluggish for those who don't have at least a P4 2.4GHZ or AMD euilavent, and esp. something in the high end last generation VC or newer.
My friend has to play on his 64 bit VC till he gets his other replacement back and it does run very slow ( plays but sluggish ), and looks only less than half as good as my card I use.
The game seems to take advantage of space..in that it fills in everything with alot of detail..and color. for me the interface works like butter..... don't have to click the heck aout of yur mouse to bring anything up.
