If not, let me know and I will assist in any way possible. Respectfully, Dr. Bradshaw LittleCaesar 07-15-2005, 10:25 PM Okay, none of the tutorials seem to be helping, so here's my deal. I have two computers which I want to network just to play games. One has Windows XP and the other Windows 2000. I have an Ethernet crossover cable; I plugged it into the two comps and it says the connection is good (it has the little computer logo in the right corner). But then I go to Network Places and nothing is there; I try creating a multiplayer game over the LAN in WarCraft but it doesn't show up on the other computer. So my question is, what do I need to do from here to get it working? Just slow 07-16-2005, 12:47 AM See if this works for you. Set the ip to each nic manually, (ip,subnetmask, gateway) and make sure both computers are on the same workgroup. rraehal 07-16-2005, 01:30 AM You sound like you have the hardware setup properly. I would agree that it seems to be software configs causing your issue. First check your TCP/IP settings like Just Slow recommended. You access your TCP/IP settings by right clicking network neighborhood, selecting properties, finding the local area connection and opening its properties. On the general tab there is a list of protocols (The connection uses the following items box). Find TCP/IP and double click it. You will get a window for setting TCP/IP addresses. I recommend setting the IP address of one system to 192.168.0.100 and the second machine to 192.168.0.101. You want to set the IP of each machine to 255.255.255.0. Set the gateway on both machines to 192.168.0.1. The gateway will nto function but it will help prevent confusion later when setting up a lan with multiple PC's. Make sure both computers are in the Same workgroup. Right click on "My Computer" and go to the identification tab (2000) or computer name tab (XP). Us ethe change button to change the workgroup name. Try playing warcraft again. You can use the IP address in Warcraft to connect to the other PC. If you still have issues shut down your firewall. XP has one built in. Don't forget to turn it back on before connecting to the net. If the firewall is your issue, you can configure it to allow Warcraft full access. SysOpt.com
