I could use some help here. I was installing some software on my new home made PC and a couple would not install. It said some window file were missing. I don't know which ones, but it was like one file and a different file each time. I decided I would format my hard drive and reinstall windows. When I did and it rebooted after the installation, it gave me the message. Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. I did and it goes into safe mode. I formated again and reinstalled with the same results. There is nothing on the computer but windows 95 so what could be the problem. Thanks.

A wild guess would be the master Boot Record is kidna confused -
Try this
Boot to the start disk in Drive A
type
fdisk /mbr
That will prepare the C drive with a new copy of MBR -
IF NOT
Run fdisk/s - shows you the current partition s on C. Write down the size of the Primary Partition - for later /forum/smile.gif
Run fdisk
DRIVE 0
the screens are self explanatory. Delete PRIMARY PARTITION Create PRIMARY PARTITION , now you need that stuff written earlier /forum/smile.gif
SET ACTIVE, reboot. Format/s -
Reinstall

I'm so dumb. I forgot the install my patches or windows 95 upgrade. A AMD 450 or anything 300 or better want boot without it. I installed it the first time I ever started it up, but just forgot this time. Thanks anyway.
