I installed win 95b using a cd of course but when i was finished the cd rom was not in my computer.

Your IDE Device drivers are not installed properly in Windows. Check in Device Manager and see if there are exclamations listed there. What MB are you using?

Sounds like it ate it? You don't mean physically that your cd-rom disapeared do ya?

Start in DOS mode and check if you can see CD drive and if so check your config file for CD configuration and force install in WIN95 if conflict is not isue. Othervise install DOS drivers first and repeat steps.

This might be a stretch since you just installed but you could still have a boot sector virus. NYB is a boot sector virus that will make your CD vanish.

Thanks for all your input as it turns out it was my sound card that caused a conflict.
the sound card has ide conections and for some reason they don't get along.
