I have a 4.3 gig HD on my Primary Master, a Creative Labs Blaster 4224 CDRW on Primary Slave, a Creative Labs 6x DVD on Secondary Master, and a zip drive on Secondary Slave. Is this the best way to configure my system? I notice that sometimes my system freezes while booting to Win98 and that my CDRW light is on right before it happens. Is this the problem of my freezing?
Thanks

Does it only happen if there is a CD in the drive? I think the system is looking for boot files or something as it sniffs out the drive. I have a 40x CDROM configured as slave that will do a similar thing if there is a CD in the drive when I boot up.
Maybe you have already tried swaping your drives around, but perhaps exchanging the CDRW with the Zip drive?
I always like to have a burner as a primary device, but if it works okay for you don't worry about it. I have just had them in the past that crashed while burning if slaves, but worked okay when put on master.
Make sure in your BIOS that the hard drive is listed before the CD drive as a boot device. If you ever want to boot from a CD you can change it back then, but for normal usage it's better this way. Hope this helps...
