i have a Abit Bx6 rev2 with a 366 celeron, 128Mb Pc100SDRAM. My computer will turn on but nothing will come up. My monitor will stay in standby.
Every component has checked out except the CPU and the motherboard.
HERE'S THE CLINCHER
The PC speaker will beep regularly for 2 sec at even intervals. It used to work after I cleared the CMOS. I tried that when it beeped the first time, and now it won't diplay antthing at all.
Please send me any suggestions you may have.
My address is dkmpc@yahoo.com

try reaseating the processor, ram,vid card and slotket. Remove all cards except video card.Disconnect all ide devices except primary hd. Make sure that ide/floppy cables are oriented correctly. I had a similar problem with the same mobo due to the slotket. I had to reseat the processor in the slotket a few times before it would boot up. hope this helps If it boots up, try adding components back one at a time.

How many beeps? Are they all the same length or are some of them longer than others? If so, in what order do they occur? I have a troubleshooting guide with beep codes. They indicate a specific issue or component.

Reaperman,
I had the identical symptoms when I upgraded my slot 1 300a running at 464mhz (103 x 4.5) to a 366 socket 370 with a converter card. The beeping was so loud that I thought my neighborhood was under nuke attack! After three frightening reboots with the same results I shut the system down.I then pulled the sloket card (MSI 6905), checked to see that the heatsink was making solid & firm contact with the chip, and then reinstalled it in the slot 1. But this time I pushed it in a little harder, rebooted, went into cmos setup and decided to go for broke (5.5 x 100). I've been running at 550mhz at 2.2 volts ever since (3 months).I have since learned through trial and error with other sloket converter card installations, that you really have to push them in quite hard the first time in order for them to seat properly, otherwise, you get the "nuke attack" warning. Bottom line...the type of beeping that you are getting is almost always caused by an improperly seated piece of hardware: cpu, video, memory.
Good Luck,
Paul
