Welcome to SysOpt! :t

Please do not double post.

The Tarantula looks nice but it only has a 9800 Pro video card which is not as current as some of the newer cards. You would be better off building it yourself. You could build the Tarantula for probably around $1,000 USD with a better video card...

Good luck! :D

I posted a fairly decent hardware rundown here:
http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182898

You could tweak it up a bit, but with adding a monitor, software, and peripherals, you'd be hitting your cap pretty quick. I spec'd it so you'd be able to upgrade in the future pretty easily.

Maybe alittle more than what your looking for, but it's one heck of a machine.
You said you had a friend that "knows computers" see if he knows about building one it's not that hard. If he's any kind of friend he wouldn't mind helping out so you can save some $$$.

In you're case you would probably want to go AMD and go with a cheaper socket 939 system and use onboard sound and lan you can always upgrade sound later if need be). If what you want is performance now with the ability to upgrade this would get your started (if your friend can build it for you).
