Ive been trying to rip some music cd's

Ive tried Audiograbber and audio catalist on every possible setting.

No matter what I do I get buffer underruns and/or sincronisation errors.

The tracks come out with little screw ups in them?

Do you know what could be causing this? I still only have 32mb of ram, I spose that could be the problem.
I have a Celeron 333a, Mitsumi 32x cd rom, segate medalist 8.4gb HDD.
I tried ripping with my 333a @ 500mhz but it did not change anything

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try right clicking on the my computer and choosing properties, then goto the device manager then the cdrom drive settings, click on properties, then settings. check the box that says sync data transfer.
see if that helps.

I didn't know tthat this problem occured with just saving the *.wav file to disk. I thought it only happened when burning a new disk.

I have had similar problems. The final solution was a new CD rom. I did not realise how poorly some of them read/extract digital audio & it seems that some of the faster ones are not as good. Have a look here http://users.glo.be/~erikd/daespeed.htm

Good luck,

K.

Following on from SoopaStar, try checking or unchecking the DMA tab. Sometimes Windoze does choose the right settings for CD-ROMS. Also, can you rip audio tracks using your CD/RW?

As far as I know, CDRW's can only be used in CDRW drives. I could be mistaken.

Stevo...
I don't know an awful lot about burning yet, but I have a Philips PCA460RW, celery 300a, 32 meg, and a 24X Toshiba CDRom and using Write2CD I haven't had any problems burning music cdr's. I don't really believe the 32 megs of ram is the problem.

Hi

Thanks for all the replys

I am still to get it to work properly.

My cd rom is a Mitsumi FX3210!B (according to the device manager)

I checked at http://users.glo.be/~erikd/daespeed.htm
and found that a Mitsumi FX320s (which is the only 32 speed Mitsumi on the page) had a quality of 0 and was not able to extract audio fast enough to write at 8 speed

Could my cd rom be the problem?

very likely

Does anyone know what the quality of 0 means?

It means that in testing, Erik was never able to get a perfect digital image of a track using that drive because the DA Extraction is crappy!

This does not mean that the drive does not read normal data CD's acurately, just that it cannot read Digital Audio properly.

Solved the problem!

It must be my cd rom

Tried a friends cd rom and it worked perfect

On audiograbber the used cpu time bar did not even move once.

My cd rom is said to be audio extraction capable, I went to the mitsumi site and it said that it was only 1 speed capable even though it is a 32 speed cd rom, That sucks. And I could not get it to work properly at all

So how can I be sure if I buy another that it is "fully" capable?

what is a good cheep cd rom these days that is properly capable of audio extraction

I have the Creative 48x & it works ok up to about 7x.

Had liteon & failed, my mitsumi burner 8x 4x cannot extract at all(says it can)

Aopen 45x(?48x) worked but with a lot of snap crackles & pops.

The page I have linked above (from a few weeks ago) now lists EPO as the best CD's for audio extraction.

Let us know how you get on.
