Hello my brother has built a Abit m/b with a P=450 clocked at 600mhz
We need opinons on if either of his choices of hard drive and scsi controler card card could hold the other back in the maxium proformace abillity.....Can this scsi controler allow the hard drive to run at full ability . and would the hard drive have any problems with the card. Now for the really hard question hehehe....when the drive comes in, it will not come with a boot disk, so all he needs to do is insert 98 floppy boot disk and format to 32 bit correct...and then he can use Partion Magic later to partion hard drive after he has opt. sys. on and a few other progams..right.....thanks guy for your help /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif /forum/smile.gif
Quantum Atlas 10K "Tornado", 9.1 GB, Ultra2 Wide LVD & 160/m SCSI-3, 10,000 RPM, 5.0 ms access, 2 MB cache, A/V Rated, 3.5" LP, 68 pin interface, 5-year warranty.
Controler card choice is below.......
Tekram DC-390U2W SCSI
The DC-390U2 Series controllers support the new Low Voltage Differential (LVD) SCSI standard for reduced bus noise, improved performance and longer cable length. ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) managers for the following operating systems are included: MS-DOS, Windows 95/98/NT, SCO Unix, NetWare. Model DC-390U2W can support SCSI-2, Ultra-Wide and Ultra2 devices without degradation of performance, and ships with Internal Ultra2, Ultra-Wide and SCSI-2 cables, as well as an Ultra2 Terminator and an Internal-to-External SCSI-2 adapter bracket.
