I am using a HP 7100i CD-RW drive with Win98 SE, and lately i am getting alot of errors and coasters from this unit. I am using all of the latest software, and firmware upgrades. Most of the time when i put a cd in it won't recognize it , and it dosn't matter what kind of cd (factory recorded, cdr, cd-rw) so i have to eject it and put it back in several times before it recognizes it. Sometime i reboot and it is ok for a bit. Is it possible that the drive is at the end of it's life? It's only 1 1\2 years old, and it doesn't get used that much.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Does this just happen under EZCD Creator or is it with any CD or CD-r/rw? If it is just in CD Copier (It will recog. a CD put in the drive under My Comp.) then reinstall the software. I am using a SCSI Plextor CD Rom and Smart & Friendly CD-R and that did the trick for me when I had that problem. Otherwise, it sounds like the drive may be going bad. Unfortunately, in my experience, CD-RWs are not the most durable piece of equip.
Good luck-Dave
