Adware Away

I've read on more than one site that Adware Away is produced by the same people who are responsible for some of the most invasive adware hijacks around ('about:blank' for example).
Is this right?
If so, it would explain why only Adware Away is able to remove certain infections where industry standard utils like adaware and spybot can't.
