Thsi is the oddest problem. Every now and then my cd drive quits, it won't read cd's and the light on the front just flashes over and over. Windows reports "Drive Not Ready" and No games will run. Then It starts to work again, odd huh? But know it has stopped again and i can't figure out how to fix it, i have reinstalled the drivers even de-o\c my celery. No dice. Any ideas?

i had that exact same problem a little while ago. i couldnt use my drive for like, 3 weeks, and i tried everything to fix it. finally, it just crapped out - it wouldnt even spin the cds anymore, and i had to replace it. so, its my guess that there is something wrong with it on the hardware side. if the warranty is still good, make em fix it or replace it. otherwise, get a new drive.

Same problem. The drive went bad, so it was time to replace. Luckly, I was still under warranty.

I have the same problem but I am thinking it could be my power supply. I have mny system overclocked, 2 HDs, CDROM (not working) and CDR along with about 3 fans. with it like that, the CDROM doesnt work. But if I unhook one of the HD, the CDROM will work fine. I cant seem to get it to work though with the HD still plugged in and taking out some of the fans and even clocking the CPU back down. It all seems to point to not enough power. Im not saying this is what is wrong, but everything seems to point to that for me. Maybe you should check and see how much power you are trying to pull out and see if it might not be a little too much. Maybe try unhooking a couple fans and give it a try again.
