I have a friend lets say, that wants to make a copy of a CD. When "he" goes to copy the CD using Adaptec software, it says there's hidden files that can not be copied. How does "my friend" copy the CD with the hidden files? Thanks!!! /forum/smile.gif
Go to Start/Settings/Folder Options/View
and check on show all files

What type of CD are you trying to back-up? PSX?

Have you tried right clicking on the hidden file in questin and in properties unchecking the hide file box?

No he hasn't. But because its on the CD it won't allow it to be changed. He will have to copy it to HD and then change the attributes. Problem will be to know which files are hidden and need changing. Anyone?

I think he's trying to backup his system on to CD. I don't think he's trying to copy a CD!! /forum/smile.gif

It is illegal to "copy" a game, but it is ok to "backup" a game, so we can't help you unless you are trying to backup the game. I have had similar problems trying to backup some of my cd's, and for some reason creating a disk image on my hd, the creating a cd from it was the only thing that worked.

This is why I keep asking, Fuzzy. Is the backup for a PC game or PSX CD?

Hmmm. Yep, more I think of it he was trying to do a system backup on to CD. I remember now. He just put on EA's NHL 2000 on his system and was trying to back it up. But when he did a compare, it said there are hidden files it was unable to backup. After I did a visual compare on the backup, it read that there was less bytes of data then there is on the original system. But all files have been backed-up. Hmmmm. Is anyone else having this problem backing up??? Thanks Guys!!!!! /forum/smile.gif

Fuzzy.
It won't work that way. You can't make a working backup of a CD that has been installed. It must be backed up from the original NHL 2000 CD.
When the backup is successfully made, and the need arises to do an installation from this CD-R, there's still the issue of getting it functional after the install.
At the following link, see what info you can find. http://www.gamecopyworld.com/
Note that GameCopyWorld ONLY supplies Information and Tools to enable you to make a PERSONAL BACKUP of your original Game/CD.
Keep the following in mind when making a backup of an Original Game:
You are LEGALLY ALLOWED to make a personal backup of an Original Game/CD as long as you are the owner of the Original Game/CD.
You are NOT ALLOWED to sell, rent or give away any backups of copyrighted Games/CDs as this is not allowed by Copyright Laws.
You MUST DESTROY any backups when you don't own the Original Game/CD anymore (e.g. selling or giving it away)
Before making a backup check, in the supplied manual or on the back of the CD, if there are special conditions for making a backup.
