I've just bought a new PIII 450 running on an Abit BE6 mainboard with WinNT Workstation 4. The hard drive is a Quantum CA 10.2GB, but for some reason only 3.92GB are being recognized when I open up My Computer. I was told that I needed to install Service Pack 5 for NT to recognize the full size of the drive, but I've done that to no avail.

Any ideas what I need to do?

I've got some other glitches I need to sort out, but this seems to be the most pressing at the moment.

Thanks!

I´m not very familiar with NT, but could it be that the harddrive is missing a partition?
That way you have all the 10 gigz but the missing 7 are not formatted or something.
Try to do an fdisk.

With nt 4 workstation the biggest the c: drive can be is 4 GB
so you will have to partition it to get the rest

In NT4, log on as the administrator and using the start menue, open up Programs/Administrative Tools (Common)/Disk administrator. See if you have unpartioned free space on the drive. If you do you can partition the free space with Disk administrator. Note: Disk administrator takes on the duties of FDISK for NT.

Thank you all for your replies. I have discovered the wonderful world of partitions! All 10 gigs now appear to be counted for!
