Right now my sound card isn't showing up on any program that wants to use sound. I do get SOME sound out of it. In the volume control it shows that the wav part is in lighter green and it is a contsant light green. I thought that the sound card might be getting some crossover from something so I uninstalled it removed all the plugs from it put it in a different slot reinstalled it still no luck. Tried D/Ling new direct x 7.0 no luck (But needed it anyway)now starting to think one of 2 things.

1. Reformate and start over.
2. Get a new sound card.

Niether one I want to do right now.
TIA,
BC

there;s a ouple of things you could try. I don't know which sound card you are using, but they all work more or less the same. Try to reinstalling the drivers. Reboot.
Have you looked in the control panel/then systems to see if it's being seen?Make sure there are no ! (it will be yellow)
You could also try uninstalling the drivers than reinstalling.
Look for conflict's.

Oh one more thing (forgot this.
try using another port.
Some speakers use one next to the joystick port others use it in the last port. Also make sure that the sound card is firmly seated in the computer.

You could also try changing slots.
email me if you still have problems

Yes, like I stated above I unistalled the sound card reinstalled it. By that I mean uninstall all the drivers and reinstalling them. It is a SB AWE64 value. It is not in the connection from the card to the speakers because I would not get the values in the volume control.
Anything else?
Thanks,

Did you try setting your sound card to a differant irq port? you might have a conflict between two devices.

Before you do that, did you go into system properties and go to that sound device branch and see if your sound card is listed there.

Anougher thing to do is, since you installed DX7 you could restore your old sound card drivers by going into program files\directx\setup\dxsetup.exe
then click restore origional audio drivers.

The last one may work the best, so try it first.

Thanks

No there are no conflicts in the system. That was one of the first things i went and looked at. I'm leaning more to a new sound card.
