I am trying to make a reasonable PC out of the parts left of my old PC after upgrading. I intend to use a Gigabyte GA-5AA motherboard with a K6-2 processor. I have 64K of old DIMM memory - what is the fastest K6-2 that will work with this, 1 year old memory rather than this new PC100 type ?
Jeff
The GA-5AA will support all the AMD K6 CPU's, Currently the 500 is the highest and reports have been that the CPU will do 550 and up. In the 1st quarter of next year AMD will realease the .018um K6-2+ Square that will have 128kb L2 on die. You can also run the K6-3 on the Mainboard.
If you mean you have 64MB of older RAM the only way to know if it'll work for sure is to try it. Some of the Non PC100 SDRAM will do 100 FSB. I have some that does 115! /forum/wink.gif
